We are developing new synthesis methods of novel nanomaterials and applications to energy, environment, and electronics based on nanotechnology. Our research focuses on nanocarbon materials, novel two-dimensional layered materials, and their heterostructures. Energy saving devices and solar cells are fabricated from these new and unique nanomaterials. We are organizing a two-dimensional materials consortium, called “Nanofoundary (KOINE)”. Throughout our intensive research activity, we would like to organize and take part in collaborative international projects.

  1. Synthesis of two-dimensional nanomaterials
    • Synthesis of large-area, high-quality graphene wafer
    • CVD growth and applications of hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) sheets
    • CVD growth of 2D atomic layers of transition metal dichalcogenides and related new materials
    • 2D heterostructures using various 2D materials
  2. Applications of nanomaterials to energy, environment, and electronics
    • Energy-related devices with 2D materials, such as ultra-low energy device and photovoltaic cells
    • Wearable devices and other human interface applications with low-dimensional nanomaterial
